Indonesia Manner

Have you ever uses this tools before you eating? I think that it must be confused, too many kinds of eating tools! But, it is the table manner of west culture. How about Indonesia? Many westernized Indonesians eat with a spoon and fork. If one is not offered eating utensils, it is appropriate to ask for a spoon and a fork (usually dinner knives are not used). But more traditional families eat by their hands because they believe that there are some advantages of uses it like as contain of vitamins, practice and more comfortable. Believes or not, it is the fact and they think that the tools that they use not always in clean condition but if they uses they hand to eat, they must be wash it before they use it to eat so it must be clean, right?
The other things, Indonesia was famous with the polite culture. But, Indonesia likes to follow the foreign trendsetter now such as clothes that often “mini” and vulgar. Maybe ten years ago kissing in public is inappropriate but now it is become ordinary. Furthermore in a movie, Indonesian artists say that they must professional so anything scenario they do for they professionalism include vulgar scene.
There are several Indonesia public manners, let see!
1.      When traveling, a person is expected to give his or her seat to the elderly, and men are expected to give their seats to women.
2.      Shoes should be removed before entering carpeted rooms, feasting places, places of funeral viewing, pr holy places, especially mosques.
3.      Gestures are not used for calling someone, except to a child. Waving one's hand with the palm facing down signals another person to come.
4.      The left hand should not be used to shake hands, touch others, point, eat food, or give or receive objects.
5.       Standing with hands in pocket or on hips is interpreted as defiance or arrogance and should be avoided.
6.      Sunglasses should be removed when speaking to someone or when entering a home.
7.       Feet should never be used as pointers, and should stay off desks and tables.
8.      Yawning in public should be avoided, but if one must yawn or cough a hand should be placed over the mouth. Eating while standing or walking is inappropriate.
